Scottie Ray Cook, age 74, of Houston, Texas was born on February 10, 1945 in Kurthwood, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019. Scottie was the eldest of four, born to parents Andrew Cook and Eartha Frazier. He is survived by his wife, Debra Sanders, and his siblings, Debra A. Jacobs and Raleigh Frazier, and preceded in rest by his brother Ronnie R. Frazier. He is survived by his five sons, Jarvis Cook, Dassen Cook (Stephanie), Jeffrey Cook (Demetria), Marcus Jackson (Maria), Jason Sanders (Cindy) and one daughter, Sherita Howard. He is survived by ten grandchildren: Dassen Cook Jr., Jazlyn Jackson, Jalyn Jackson, Joshua Cook, Janai Samuels, Jaidyn Sanders, Jayla Sanders, Jordyn Cook, Jesaviyah Sanders, and Jaxon Howard, along with many other family members and loved ones. Scottie graduated from Leesville High School in Leesville, Louisiana in 1964. He later attended Texas Southern University in the 1960s before being drafted to the Army in 1967. He was stationed in Korea and separated in Fort. Devens Air in Massachusetts. First and foremost, Scottie loved The Lord. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching old movies; his favorite being the “The Last of the Mohicans”. A true highlight in his life was spending time with his wife shopping and running errands. He loved family time that consisted of family reunions, birthday parties and celebrations. Scottie had a passion for music; his favorite artist was Marvin Gaye. He was truly a mentor to all he encountered and always had wise words to share. Scottie had a heart of gold and he made everyone feel special. He really lived the adage, leave things better than you found them. Scottie retired from Pinch after working for 30 years and he was an active member of New Light Christian Center Church where he was a dedicated usher. Scottie had tremendous love for his family, his wife, his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed and in our hearts.
