IN THE CARE OF
Inverness Funeral Home
Catherine (Kaye) Mac Eachen
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kaye MacEachen of Port Hood, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 6, 2019, the Epiphany of the Lord.
Born in Mabou on March 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alex “the painter” Cameron – (Alasdair a’ Pheantair ‘ic Aonghais ‘ic Alasdair ‘ic Aonghais Dhuinn) and Mary Anne (MacDonald) (Màiri Anna ni’n Iain Shandaidh Mhóir).
Kaye, a woman of deep faith, was a member of St Peter’s Parish and CWL, Port Hood. Her love of God, her family and friends (card players and all) gave her a lifetime of joy and fulfillment.
Along with her dear husband Hughie Phillip, she was steadfast in her hard work on their farm in Hawthorne, where they nurtured their family and cared for their neighbours. They shared a love of Scotch music, square dancing and visiting. Full of patience, kindness and humility, we are filled with gratitude for the example she set by living a life of acceptance, goodness and giving.
She is survived by her seven children; Anne Marie (Bob) Sime, Hughena (Tom) Mac Millan,
Ronnie (Bernadette), Annette (Harvey) Beaton, Lorraine, Angela (Dougie) Beaton, and Frances; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, Hannah Marie, and many nieces and nephews.
Kaye is also survived by brothers; Duncan, Dougald (Florence) Roy, and Alexander (Judy).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Phillip (d:1990); sister,
Mary; brothers, Angus, John and Colin; brother-in law, Hughie Bernard; sisters-in-law, Louise, Theresa, Marcella, Irene, Kaye, Chris and son-in-law, Rick Minnikin.
Visitation will be held from 2-9pm on Tuesday, January 8 in Port Hood Resting Place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood on Wednesday, January 9 at
11:00am.
Special thanks to the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital staff, Dr Susie Egar, Dr Ritter, Lori Ann Mac Donald, and Paulette Levin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice. Online condolences can be made to www.invernessfuneralhome.com
