Billie Russell Webb

Billie Russell Webb, age 85 of Jackson, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born on August 25, 1933 in Newbern, TN, to the late Milford Russell and Martha Lee Gilmer Webb. He was married to his high school sweetheart Laura for 63 years. He was an Army Veteran. He was a dairy farmer for 15 years. He worked at Fiberglass for 15 years and spent 15 years working for Morris Nursery Barn. In his retirement he propagated boxwoods which earned him a membership into the American Boxwood Society. He was a member of Believers Fellowship congregation, where he served as a Deacon and eventually an Elder, and a Bible teacher. His faith led him to minister and counsel inmates of the Madison County jails and penal farm, where he served as a volunteer chaplain to the inmates. He was a Gideon and was a member of the Madison County Gideon Camp. He loved God, his wife, his community and his country. He was a humble man and a dedicated servant of God. He is proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Laura Simmons Webb of Jackson; Four children, Stacye Richardson (Gary), Stephanie Jones (Todd), Eddie Webb(LeeAnn), David Webb(Jennifer); eight Grandchildren Rachel Groves (Robert), Hilliary Jones, Hollie Webb, Tyler Webb, Ethan Webb, Amanda Webb, Sarah Webb, Lauren Webb; one Great Grandchild Sawyer Groves; and four brothers Murrell Webb(Will), Crannie Webb (Erma Jean),and Mickey Webb(Jane). The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Bob Barnes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery at Parker’s Crossroads with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers the family requests making a donation to Gideon's International for the purchase of Gideon Bibles or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
