Obituary of Ida Mae Greninger
Ida Mae Greninger November 9, 1923- June 1, 2019 Ida Mae Greninger passed peacefully in her sleep at home on June 1 2019. She grew up during the hardest time this country has seen, the Great Depression. During World War II, in 1940, she married Glenn Dent and had a son, Glenn Lester Dent. She became a Rosie the Riveter in Wichita Kansas, where she worked with other Rosie’s to build B-29 bombers. After the war she worked as a switch board operator. In 1950 she married Pete Greninger. She loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was always there when you needed a bit of advice or a helping hand. While raising her children, Ida Mae went to school to learn the hairdressing trade and received her cosmetology license. After her children were grown and gone, she and her husband Pete moved to Saudi Arabia in 1970. While Pete worked for Saudia Arabian Airlines, Ida opened her own hair salon and practiced her skill in hairstyling. After living in Saudi Arabia for 11 years, they came home to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Her beloved Pete passed in 1992. Showing the same tenacity she had through all of her years, she climbed a mountain in Africa at the young age of 74, accompanied by her daughter Karen and granddaughter, Autumn. Ida Mae will always be remembered with love and admiration by those who knew her. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lois Ellen Cleveland and Albert Walter McCollum; her husband, Thurman M. "Pete" Greninger; her brother, Bill McCollum; and sister, Jenny McCollum. She is Survived by her son, Glen Lester Dent (Linda); daughters, Terre Greninger and Karen Greninger; her brother, Raymond McCollum; grandchildren, Scott Dent (Lisa), Russell "Russ" Dent (Jane), Justin Powell (Rebecca), Autumn Ussery (Marcus), Kristopher Carl (Julia), and Sky Johnston (Alyssa); she also leaves 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.....
