Frank D. Colon

Frank David Colon, a man with an easy smile and happy disposition, who is often described as sweet, nice, a great friend, Mr. Nice Guy, a man who was always there, always ready to help without being asked, fiercely loyal to a fault, father and husband, died on Wednesday, June 27, at the age of 52. His transition was swift and painless. He was doing one of his favorite things, trail riding his motorcycle with a good friend on a beautiful day. It was your average great day where all is right with the world. The weekend past had been spent cabin camping with his beloved wife, Diana, and his lovely daughter, Lilly. It was a celebration of his daughter’s thirteenth birthday which had taken place on May 15th. Steaks and shrimp were grilled, cake was eaten, stories told and memories created. Frank had a passion and a love for life which was centered around family and friends. He was excited by the road in front of him whether it be dirt, tar or metaphorical. It is because of his passion, his verve and his love that Frank’s passing will be felt by many people in many communities. If earning the Day in the Dirt Ironman trophy doesn’t sound impressive to you, it’s a safe bet you haven’t spent hours in the heat and rain wiping dirt from your goggles over Thanksgiving weekend. His many friends in the Motorsports world from NETRA, where he was a board member, to the Monadnock Trail Breakers and MVTR know how honored and proud he was of that trophy which sits above the fireplace in Dublin, NH. His achievement of a second place finish of the NETRA Hare Scramble series after thirteen races last year was exceptionally meaningful after seven years of not racing. His winter avocation with snowmobiles brought him equal joy. The friends he made and the camaraderie he experienced with all made him happy and smile. His love of people and interaction with people led to a life in sales. He treated his clients like his friends with caring, loyalty and integrity and as a result they became friends. Whether in motorsports, ad sales or insurance the joy for Frank was the people and the personal relationship. He truly cared for his clients. As we all remember Frank and try and understand the concept of loss and what we miss and how we hurt and ache for a life taken away so abruptly and without warning. Let us lean on each other and reach out to one another. Let us tell good stories and great stories of a full life, well-lived and enjoyed, of smiles and camaraderie, of sweat and endurance but most importantly of the embrace of family. His love and his unwavering loyalty to his wife and daughter, his sisters and brothers, his friends were the core and essence of Frank. The family would like to express deep gratitude to JP Bernier, who was Frank’s riding companion on Wednesday, and to the first responders who worked so valiantly. He is survived by his wife, Diana; his beloved daughter and pride and joy, Lilly, his mother, Margo Gulani of New Jersey, his sisters, Eileen Felty of Florida, Beatrice Rogers of New Jersey, Diana Conti of Georgia, Rosita Barranco Colon of Florida; his brothers, Robert Book and David Colon of Florida; his nieces, Katie Rogers and Sabrina Felty, his nephews, Christopher Felty and David Colon Jr., a great niece, Brinique Felty and his friends. A memorial service and celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 5:30PM in the Dublin Community Church, 1125 Main Street, Dublin. Additional services and events for Frank will be announced during the service. For those who wish, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to your local fire and rescue departments to help with a most needed and grateful service provided to our communities.
