Obituary of Anne Petrocovich
Anne Katherine Petrocovich January 17, 1930 – March 7, 2018 Anne passed away on March 7, 2018 at Pinecrest Home. While we mourn her loss, we are thankful for a long life well lived. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters – Carol (Larry Kurtz) and Janna (Ted Becker) and the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Reece Becker. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers Richard (Lynne) and Gordon as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 2015. She was also predeceased by her parents Arnolda and Wolfgang Euler and one brother Martin. Anne was raised in Waldhof, Ontario on the family farm. She moved to Kenora where she became a dedicated and loving wife and mother – family was most important to her. She especially cherished time spent with Reece – a visit was never complete until the two of them had raided the raspberry patch in the backyard. Peter and Anne lived in Kenora for more than 60 years where they spent countless hours building their home and maintaining their yard. When it came to vegetables and flowers Anne had a green thumb. She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards (bridge and cribbage) and completing jigsaw and word puzzles. She was an active member of the United Church Women’s group for a number of years. She was also an avid blueberry picker – an activity the rest of her family was less enthusiastic about but endured in order to have a slice of her famous blueberry pie. During the last several years dementia began to impose itself into her life. Even though her short- term memory became harder to access she managed to keep her personality intact. We continued to enjoy her kind nature, her sense of humour and hearty laugh. Anne’s family are grateful to the kind, caring and loving staff at Pinecrest Home where Anne has resided for the past three years. Anne was well cared for and her daily life was enriched with fun activities and social events. She especially loved interacting with visiting school children and four-legged visitors. There is a special place in our hearts for those who helped make our mother’s last days as comfortable and dignified as possible. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Pinecrest Home Auxiliary – 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora ON P9N 2W7 – or a charity of your choice. “Mother’s hold their children’s hands for a while … and their hearts forever” Online condolences may be made at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com BROWN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE ENTRUSTED WITH ARRANGEMENTS.
