Obituary of Brian Ernest Paul
Ernest Brian Paul October 2, 1941 - December 30, 2018 It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Brian Paul, peacefully at his residence, with his loving wife Linda by his side. Brian as he was known to all, was born in Kenora, Ontario, October 2 1941, the youngest son of Ernest and Anne Paul. The day he was born he noticed the natural beauty of Kenora and decided that he would live here for the rest of his natural life, to which he did. And during his time here began a beautiful family. In July 1963 Brian met the love of his life Linda, to whom he married two years later and never looked back being married for 53 wonderful years during this time they gave birth to three wonderful children William, Lee Ann, and Lori. Brian in his younger years was part of the old Park Street gang, to whom all can attest never had a problem getting into mischief. He also had a passion for Hockey and from an early age and hung out at the local arena becoming a rink rat for most of his younger days and later becoming a Linesman for the Kenora Thistles, one of his favourite hobbies. One of our favorite stories that Grandpa told us was the day he got his first goal in hockey, which unfortunately was on his own net. Dad was excited that Grandpa was yelling go, go, go but he was actually yelling no, no, no. Brian began his career with the Kenora Paper Mill back in the day when the world was still trying to perfect the wheel giving his all for 38 years retiring in 1998. As the years went on and his kids grew up and started having children of their own, this became Dads second favorite passion, his Grand kids, to whom he loved very dearly giving each one their own nicknames. He never missed a Birthday or Christmas wish or giving just a phone call to say Hi. To be honest if there was one thing in his life that he truly loved it was his family they meant the world to him and we all knew that. This is why as we moved on, we tried to return to visit as much as possible and when we arrived he had a smile from ear to ear. Brian was predeceased by his daughter Lee Ann, and parents Ernie and Anne. He is survived by his wife Linda, son Bill (Tracey) of Red Deer, AB, daughter Lori (Tony) Casasanta of Thunder Bay, ON and also five Grandchildren Santana, Brendan, Tanner, Jordana and Terra, and also brother William (John) of Millet, AB. Our family would truly like to thank those that made the visits to the hospital while he was there including his cousins Kenny Paul (KP), Muriel Pirie and friends Ray Milsom and Deke Zabloski. We also want to thank the Nurses and Staff on the 3rd floor of the Lake of the Woods District for all their compassion and care in making Dads stay as comfortable as possible to which we are very grateful, and to all the Paramedics who never get enough thanks for their professionalism and care while transporting Dad to the hospital. Mom would especially like to thank Officer Dayment of the Kenora OPP for her care and compassion when Dad passed and a very special thank you goes to Mom and Dad’s favorite neighbour Paula James for always being there when the family could not and helping in any way she could. Also to Paul, Chris and Connor Donnelly for coming to help out when they could. Cremation has taken place and as per Dad and Moms wishes they will be no service with a small memorial at a future date. We are saddened that you had to leave but also feel at peace knowing that you can again take that deep breath you so needed. To all who knew Brian please grab a coffee and tell a good story as we know you all have many. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Lung or Heart and Stroke Foundation in his name. This is not goodbye Papa this is so long until we meet again. Online condolences may be made at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com BROWN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE ENTRUSTED WITH ARRANGEMENTS.
