Jenny Zubelewicz (Ignaciuk)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother on June 9, 2019.
Jenny was born in Bozedar, Poiand on March 23, 1923.
She was predeceased by her son Richard and husband Ludwik, and also, her sister and brothers.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Helen and Don Parfitt and also, by her nieces and their extended families in Poland.
At the beginning of WWII, and at the young age of 17 she was captured and forced to do hard labor at the working farms. Later, in 1945 at the refugee camps, her job was to run the sewing department and cook for the working crews. In 1954 she immigrated to Canada with her family and resided in Winnipeg until 1956, when they moved to Mando Camp 316 and then in 1963 to Kenora. Here she worked in various restaurants and institutions as a cook. She continued her passion for cooking, baking, sewing and also gardening until the very end. She will be missed dearly.
We extend our sincere thank you to the entire emergency department and other hospital staff for their exemplary care and compassion at a difficult time.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and if so desired, donations may be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
