Billy Ray Lane age 82 of Knoxville TN, Passed away at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center on August 28, 2019, Billy was a devout Christian, a deacon and elder for many years at Fellowship Baptist Church of Knoxville Tennessee, he taught countless classes at Sunday School and guided and impacted many lives throughout his work with his church. Billy had a special relationship with the Lord and was looking forward to joining his Heavenly Father when his name was called. He had no hesitation or fear toward death because he knew of the reward. Billy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was genuine, patient, and kind and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him. Billy never met a stranger, so the list is long. He was unspeakably proud of his time in the United States Air Force and was like clockwork raising his Air Force flag each and every morning and lowering it again of each evening. He did not miss a day. Billy never wanted for any material possessions other than a pickup truck and a band saw, and he was able to accomplish both. What he lacked in desire for the materialistic, he more than made up for in his love and compassion for his wife, kids, and grandchildren and his commitment to his church. His impact will be felt by generations to come. He held his employment with Plasti-Line Inc. for well over forty years. Billy is who we should all strive to be. He was preceded in death by his father; Robert Lane; mother Estelle Gaylor Lane; Brothers Donald, Hobart, and Bobbie; sisters Grace (Keller) and Reba (Gaylor) Daughter; Sherry Lynn Mallard. He is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Robert, David and James “Jamie” Lane and his brother; Ben He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
