Sheryl Lynn Fernung

Sheryl Lynn Fernung, 74, of Kokomo passed away at 6:01 AM Monday August 26, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. Born April 25, 1945 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Pete" Benson and Rhea (Emry) Benson. On September 3, 1965 in Kokomo she married David Lamarr Fernung. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2013.
She was employed with Ameritech, retiring after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of Mothers of Twins club, founding member and treasurer of Radiant Life Ministries Church; she was also involved in Boy Scouts and enjoyed cross-stich.
Survivors include two sons Robert Todd (Janet) Fernung of Rossville and Kristopher Fernung of Kokomo; five daughters Tricia (Doug) Rybolt and Lisa (Jamie) Russell both of Kokomo, Michelle Martin of Indianapolis, Amber (Ryan) McCauley of Forest, and Arabella (Michael) Riley of Noblesville; one brother John Benson of Carmel; one sister Suzanne Coffey of Indianapolis; grandchildren Ashlei (Steven) Gingerich, Robert Fernung, Kylie (Casey) Shue, Sebastian (Brooke) Rybolt, Korey (Rhea) Sexton, Cassei (Roger) Russell, Emily Fernung, Sausha Rybolt and Tahtianna Rybolt; also 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two great grandchildren.
A celebration of Life will be at 4:00 PM Thursday August 29, 2019 at Radiant Life Ministries, 1602 E. Gano Street, Kokomo. Pastors Steve Pearce and Mike Young will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in honor of Janet Fernung.
