IN THE CARE OF
Palm Southwest Mortuary
Our beloved wife and mother, Andrea Alejo Dacquel, 79, passed away on October 4, 2019 with her husband and daughter by her side at Southern Hills Hospital.
She was born in Butir, Santa Maria, Illocosur, Philippines on May 3, 1940. After losing her parents as a young teenager, she took care of her siblings while attending St. Mary’s Academy in Santa Maria, Illocosur and the University of Santo Tomas, College of Nursing, where she began her nursing studies. She graduated from Arellano University in 1964, becoming a registered nurse.
She went to New York City in 1969 to work at Cornell Medical Center and eventually Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Hospital. And for 38 years, she spent a life devoted to caring and healing others at their most vulnerable time.
No matter the pursuit, she infused happiness into everything she did. Andrea’s passions included being an active part of the Catholic church community, ballroom dancing with friends, attending Zumba classes and health seminars, traveling, going on cruises, and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Despite her heart condition, she had always had a hunger for life and people.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Jocelyn, her parents Juana and Pablo, her brothers Loreto Alejo and Jaoquin Alejo, and her sister Nellie Calibuso.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Teodorico, her daughter Amanda, her son Dennis, her granddaughters Jocelyn and Jenna, her daughter-in-law Eidel, her brother Rudy Alejo, her two sisters Leona Gines and Hermilina Dasalla, her brother-in-law Rey Dasalla, and many nieces and nephews.
