Obituary of Isabel Clarke Frazee
Isabel Clarke Frazee passed away in Austin on September. 30, 2019. Isabel lived in Dallas for 56 years until 2015 when she moved to Austin to be closer to her devoted only child and son-in-law, Barbie and Gary Farmer. Isabel was born on April 21, 1927 in Wilmington, North Carolina to Malcolm Douglas Clarke and Isabel Hinnant Clarke. Her beloved siblings were Mary Zilla Clarke Bopp and Malcolm Douglas Clarke Jr. The family moved to Washington D.C. when Isabel was nine years old. Isabel attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. She worked for Prentice Hall Publishing in Washington D.C. where she covered the Supreme Court. Isabel met the love of her life, Charles Clifford (Cliff) Frazee Jr. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in D.C. They were married at St. Alban’s on July 18, 1953. Cliff grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their daughter, Barbara (Barbie) Frazee Farmer, was born in Washington D.C. When Barbie was one year old, Cliff, Isabel and Barbie moved to Dallas, Texas, where Cliff became the lawyer and Executive Vice President for Morgan Mistletoe Express. Isabel was helpful in supporting Cliff’s career and Barbie’s schooling and activities. Eventually, she went to work part-time for more than 32 years at Happy Happy Gifts Hallmark store, which later became Ginny’s Hallmark. Isabel loved her family. She was thrilled to welcome her son-in-law Gary into her family. Unfortunately, Cliff was diagnosed with lymphoma and died five months after Barbie and Gary’s wedding. Isabel bravely continued on, becoming a grandmother to Doug and then Liz. Isabel was delighted when Doug married Laura two years ago. In February, Isabel was excited to become great grandmother to precious Malcolm. Isabel loved her and Cliff’s extended family. She had wonderful relationships with her nieces and nephews. Isabel is predeceased by her husband, Cliff; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Walter Bopp; and her brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Pat Clarke. Most of Cliff’s brothers and sisters-in-law are deceased. Isabel’s family wishes to thank her amazing caretakers from Senior Sitters of Austin and Parmer Woods assisted living facility in Austin. Isabel loved Dallas and was a great promoter for the city. She read The Dallas Morning News every day. Isabel was very proud when her granddaughter, Liz, became a writer for the DMN. Isabel loved her church and her friends at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. She helped with the women of the church and served in many capacities of church work. She loved her friends and never met a stranger. Along with going out of her way to be kind and friendly to everyone, Isabel had a fun personality and beautiful smile. Her memorial service will be at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1 P.M.. with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Isabel’s name to the Endowment Fund of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 11122 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75229.
