Obituary of Gwendolyn Arta Ross
Gwendolyn Arta Ross (nee Callaway) was born December 23, 1919 and died June 8, 2018 at the age of 98. Until recently she had resided in Planeview Manor Leduc. She was the oldest surviving member of P.B. and Maud Callaway's family and was predeceased by her husband, David Ross in May 1999. Gwen was born in Spokane, Washington. When she was three years old, she moved with her family to Thorsby, Alberta, where she was raised on a farm with her two sisters. After marrying her husband David, they raised five children on a neighboring farm. She was very active in her community and involved with the Ladies Auxiliary, Lutheran Church, PC Party, Dr. Woods House Museum and the Leduc West Antique Society. She worked for 14 years as the local correspondent for the Leduc Representative. Gwen tended a beautiful garden at her home in Leduc, which was the heart of family gatherings and holidays and where she always had time for a heartfelt discussion over a cup of tea. She took pride in staying active in her older years and enjoyed travelling and keeping up on current events. Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her children; Carole (John) Weir of Texas, Lowell (Barbara) Ross, Brian (Jill) Ross, of Australia, Wauneita (Richard) Ross-Garrett, Averill (Janine) Ross, her eight grandchildren; Candace, Curtis, Sara, Alexander, Andrea, Natasha, David, Isabelle and two great grand-children, Jack and Hudson. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service‎ with Reverend Neil Stern of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Leduc officiating, will be held at 1 p.m. on June 28th, 2018 at Hainstock's Funeral Home at 9810-34th Avenue in Edmonton.
