Obituary of Lloyd John Nelson
Age 78 of Edmonton, AB, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 6, 2019. He was born on July 12, 1940 to Ernest and Vera Nelson in Turner Valley, AB. Lloyd graduated from the Devon High School and later earned his Master Electrician Journeyman Ticket from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He married Judy Preece in 1962 and they had 3 children Eileen, Deborah and Kevin. He later married Lorraine Krause in 1991. Lloyd was very active in the Oilfield Industry as an electrician, working in many places as far away as the Arctic Circle. In later years working as a Salesman at R. Angus he then became a specialist in industrial generators and went on to start his own business, Grizzly Power, in 1985, a generator rental company in Nisku, Alberta. He ran and grew the company until his retirement in 1999. His family continues to run the business. He was an avid Oilers Fan and season ticket holder for many years, passing on his love of hockey to his children and grandchildren. Lloyd was active with several local charitable organizations including the Kinsmen, K40 and through them contributed to the Big Brothers and Sisters organization. He was an executive member of the Leduc #1 Historical Society and continued to volunteer much of his time to the organization over the years. Lloyd is survived by his 3 children, Eileen (Robin) Deck, Deborah (Daryl) Ramsay, Kevin (Melody) Nelson. 11 Grandchildren, Robert (Kristen) Deck, Jessica (Justin) Pollock, Alyssa (Kurt) Kozicky, Jaime (Braden) Vegh-Morin, Colin (Bethany) Nicoll, Raeanne Ramsay, Cassandra Nicoll, Tanya Nelson, Vanessa Nelson, Jordan (Katy Ingraham)Watson and Natasha (Sean)Trochymchuk. 9 Great Grandchildren, Rayla and Jayden Vegh-Morin, Kylee and Tessa Deck, Vera and Lillian Pollock, Bianca Kozicky, Georgia Watson and Brody Trochymchuk. His sister Frances (John) Scotvold and their children Laurel Anne (Jim) Scotvold, Dylan (Tanya) Scotvold and their daughter Emily. His brother Ronald (Colleen) Nelson and their children Evan (Ashley) Nelson and their children Magnus and Mason, and Andrea (Kevin) Barron. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Vera Nelson and his 2nd wife Lorraine Nelson.
