Silvia June Hatchel

Silvia June Hatchel, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in Longview surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of her Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at The Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Green officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Libby Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Silvia was born November 11, 1932 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to John Carson Hawkins and Myrtle Nall Hawkins. She was of the Baptist faith and in her earlier years, loved acting in the church plays. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and bowling. She and her husband “Peanut” even won several championships in their bowling league. Silvia’s greatest joy was her family and she was extremely proud of them. She loved them more than life itself. She was the coolest grandma and loved getting right in the middle of the grandchildren to play with them. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother anyone could ask for and she will be missed tremendously. Silvia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Joe “Peanut” Hatchel; sisters, Winifred Morgan, Betty Walker, and Margaret Soape; brothers, Warren Hawkins, Raymond Hawkins, Sheb Hawkins, and an infant brother. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hoskins; son, Ricky Hatchel (Debra); daughter, Penny Grewing; grandchildren, Melissa Matthews (Jim), Kimberly Yarnell (Dwight Jarvis), Tamara Simon, Charles Simon, Erin Moreno (Pedro), Andrew Simon, Zachary Austin, Joshua Hatchel (Jamie), Jeremy Hatchel (Dana), Amanda Freehling, Billy Hillyer (Jamie), and Carrie Ford (Shane); 26 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends who loved her dearly.
