Obituary of Fred Logsdon
Fred Logsdon was born on December 16, 1926, and departed this life on June 6, 2019. He was the last surviving sibling of 9 brothers and sisters. He was born and grew up on a small farm just outside of Millerstown, Kentucky in Grayson County, and was baptized in a creek that ran alongside their property. In spring of 1945 at age 18, he left the farm and was drafted into the Army during the closing days of WWII. The war in Europe had ended by the time Mr. Logsdon finished basic training. He was assigned to the 74th Constabulary Squadron (Military Police) and arrived in France and made his way to Germany by September of 1945 as part of the occupation army in Germany. For a year he and his squadron hunted Nazis still hiding in Germany. After the war he moved to Louisville from Millerstown and started work at the American Tobacco Company. When American Tobacco Company closed he worked at Precision Tool and Die until he retired. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Dave and Mary Ellen Logsdon. He is survived by his sons, Terry Sherrard, Rick Logsdon(Kathy), and his daughter, Lisa Welch(Hermon). He has seven grandchildren, Sean Sherrard, Katie Frazier(Brent), Jessica Druin(Mike), Marianne Rhodes (Drew), Michael Sherrard(Santana), Emily Everett(Dustin), and Sara Welch. He has 4 great grandchildren, Sierra Sherrard, James Rhodes, Ava Frazier, and Natalie Rhodes. Funeral service will be 6pm Monday, June 10, 2019 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 4pm - 6pm at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. Memorial donations in Fred's memory can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
