Gary "Big Mike" Michael Thomas

Gary Michael “Big Mike” Thomas, 62, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at his home. Big Mike was born in Beckley on December 11, 1956 to the late James and Frances Hood Thomas. He was a retired Custodian with Kanawha County Schools with 25 years of service having late worked at DuPont Middle School. He was an avid football fan especially his DuPont Middle School Panthers and he was an avid Red Skins fan. He was also a member of the Levi First Missionary Baptist Church in Rand. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Holland; brother, Vincent Thomas; and a nephew, Eric Thomas. Big Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Thomas; stepdaughter, Stefanie Campbell of Belle; sisters, Sandra (Bill) Carter of Columbus, Ohio and Letitia Thomas of Charleston; brother, James (Pam) Thomas Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; nieces, Cara Caldwell of Columbus, Ohio, Letisha Smith of Roanoke, Virginia and Venese Thomas of Charleston; and nephew, Sean (Liz Law) Thomas of California. The funeral services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, Rand, with Pastor Rev. James Jackson officiating. A visitation with family and friends will he held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church.
