Shawn Kennedy

Shawn Kennedy, age 61, was born in Yoakum, Texas on December 17, 1957 to parents James Edward and Fern Kennedy. He travelled a bit in his childhood, spending time in Yoakum, Amarillo, Hays, Kansas, and back to Amarillo. During his early adulthood, Shawn took on more responsibilities at the family tree farm after his father became ill. He would be seen around town with his trusty canine sidekick, Brownie. He met his wife, Vicki, while filling up the family vehicles at a local convenience store. It was love at first motorcycle ride. Shawn and Vicki had two children, James and Rachel, during their stay in Amarillo before eventually moving down to the Marble Falls area after falling in love with the hill country. Shawn developed a multitude of friendships while splitting his time between working as a professional glass cleaner and visiting his local haunt, the VFW. He was known for his gregarious, lively spirit. Shawn was a loyal friend who was often the source of comedic relief. He would later refer to himself as a “commodian”, as some of his humor tended to be more risqué. Shawn became a Grandpa in his later years after his son, James, had two boys, Tyler and Joseph. He loved his grandsons and looked forward to taking them fishing and teaching them his ways. More recently, he welcomed his first granddaughter, Harmony, into the world. He anticipated watching them grow-up. Shawn believed in equal measures of work and fun. He liked getting his hands dirty as much as kicking his feet up and drinking a beer. His memory will live on in those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, children, James and Rachel, older brother, Tim, grandchildren, Tyler, Joseph and Harmony, and other relatives in the Dallas area. Funeral service will be Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls. Burial will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
