Obituary of Susan Nelson~Smith
Heaven has welcomed a new angel, Susan passed away in her home on May 7, 2019. Susan was welcomed into the world on June 8th, 1962 in Summerland, BC by her parents Juanita and Nicholas. She was predeceased by her dad Nicholas Even, her mother Juanita Panzer, (nee Ketter), her stepfather Gunter Panzer, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Susan had an amazing family; she leaves her husband, her childhood sweetheart Brian Nelson-Smith, her son Mathew (Janessa), daughter Megan (Garrett) and two beautiful grandchildren, Bentley and Avery. Susan also leaves her two sisters Lorrie, and Pam (Brad), her brother Murray (Tracey), her in-laws Ralph and Colleen Nelson-Smith, sister-in-law Lisa (Ray), and many nieces and nephews. The amount of hearts Susan touched in her short time here on earth could never be counted or measured; she loved everyone she met, and they instantly fell in love with her. She was well known in the community for her generosity; Nelson-Smith Logging was a huge part of the Nicola Valley and supported many groups, including school bursary programs. Susan was always the first to lend a hand or give of her time volunteering to anyone who needed her. Susan loved life and she lived life. She travelled to many countries, she enjoyed fine wines and fine dining. She always looked forward to concerts and live theater plays. She was comfortable in her fancy flip flops as well as getting down and dirty digging in the junk stores looking for pretty antiques. She loved attention to detail. Her home décor; every little thing had a special place, and her immaculate appearance was all thought through. She loved time spent on the golf course with her husband and friends, or summers at the RV lot in Vernon. Family gatherings or just spending time at the pool or DQ with her grandchildren made her smile. Susan will be missed by many, but we can take peace in the fact that her love and faith in Jesus has her at peace. She will be seen in every beautiful thing we see, she will be felt in the softness of the rain or flower petals and she will be remembered every time we smell something pretty. Dimes were her sign from heaven and we can all take a moment to remember her as she throws them down into our daily paths. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Susan’s life will be celebrated on June 8, 2019. Services at Crossroads Community Church at 11:00, Celebration of Life Tea to follow at the Lower Nicola Community Hall 1:00.
