Margaret Standridge Winters

Graveside services for Margaret Standridge Winters, 97, will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 14, 2019, at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. Margaret was born July 3, 1921 to Ivan F. Keaghey and Lucille Cook Keaghey in Cleburne, Texas. She died January 11, 2019, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She married Edward A. (Stan) Standridge on August 20, 1940, and her only child was born of this marriage. Stan and Margaret owned and operated “Chuck Wagon” Restaurants in the Houston area. After Stan died in 1956, she relocated to Dallas and married G.E. (Hank) Winters, who also preceded her in death. Margaret sang with Silver Serenaders of Texas and Red Bird Singers. She was a member of ABWA and honored as ABWA’s Women of the year, 1967 and Altrusa, and was named Oak Cliff Altrusa Woman of the year, 1974-75. She moved to Nacogdoches in 2007 and joined First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she is preceded in death by a half-sister, Pamela Cole. She is survived by her son, Larry Standridge and his wife, Anita, of Nacogdoches; her grandson, Ethan Aaron (Tex) Standridge and his wife, Emily; great-granddaughter, Sylva Standridge, all of Whitehouse, Texas; half-brother, Leonard Morgan; half-sister, Rosemarie Johnson; and many much-loved nieces and nephews and their families.     She is survived by her son, Larry Standridge and his wife, Anita, of Nacogdoches; her grandson, Ethan Aaron (Tex) Standridge and his wife, Emily; great-granddaughter, Sylva Standridge, all of Whitehouse, Texas; half-brother, Leonard Morgan; half-sister, Rosemarie Johnson; and many much-loved nieces and nephews and their families.
