Obituary of Christos Luckeis Van Nathan
The Life of Christos Van Nathan 8/21/89 - 5/5/19 Christos Van Nathan passed too early from this life in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the age of 29. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Van Nathan; his mother, Soraya Van Nathan; his father, Kirk Guida; his brothers, Mitchell and Vincent Guida; and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins in New York City and Florida. He is predeceased by his birth father, Christos Argyros. The visitation for the family and friends of Christos Van Nathan will be Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home at 201 25th Avenue North in Nashville, TN, from 4:00-7:30 P.M., with a brief memorial service at 7:30. Christos was born in Yonkers, New York, to Soraya Van Nathan and Christos Argyros. After his birth father’s unexpected passing, Kirk Guida became Christos’s loving father, dedicated to Christos for life. Christos spent the first several years of his life growing up in the Bronx of New York City. His family then moved to Florida, where they flourished in the sunny climate. In 2005, they moved to Woodbury, TN, where he attended Cannon County High School. During his tenure there, Christos began to show his talent for all things art. Also while he was at CCHS, he met a pretty young redhead named Rachel Young. Together, they went on to do multiple short-term group mission trips such as to Baja California to help support an orphanage there as well as a trip to Honduras with a group building homes and working with their local orphanage. He showed from an early age that he was concerned with helping others. After graduation from high school in 2008, Christos enrolled in Nossi College of Art in Nashville, where he was awarded his AA degree in photography in 2011. While there, he showed his caring eye through his camera lens in his prize-winning black and white photo of a wizened gentleman he met on the streets of Nashville. After leaving Nossi, Christos embarked in his professional photography career, working as a mobile business photographer. On a snowy day in February 11, 2012, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Rachel Young, in a small chapel in the mountains near Sevierville, TN. They lived their life together in Nashville, TN. They enjoyed rock climbing and biking and exploring the outdoors wherever they were. But their favorite thing to do together was travel. They would travel across country for his work, but loved it the most when they could travel to see his family in New York and Florida. Some of the best memories were made during their summers in Greece with his family there. Christos was a loving, dedicated husband to Rachel, son to his parents, and brother to his siblings, enlivening their lives together with a mixture of tenderness, pranks, and a love to laugh and enjoy life. He had a wonderful curiosity and fascination with life and nature, finding amazement in everything he saw. He loved challenges and to build and create everything from remodeling unique furniture to building ever-more-ingenious exercise projects in his home. He loved to make people smile, and he loved to help people. His family and friends thank God for the memories they have of times spent with Christos and for the amazing blessings he gave wherever he was. The hole left by his passing will never be filled. But the memories will be forever. We love you, Christos.
