Obituary of William Joseph Anderson IV
William Joseph Anderson IV, 55, passed from this life on August 5, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, William Joseph Anderson III, and his mother, Michael Larsen Anderson. He is survived by his stepmothers, Anita Hayes, Sally Smith Anderson, and Holly Anderson and his siblings, Alicia Sayle Anderson Hudson (Bob), Ralph Michael Larsen Anderson (Michelle), and Mollie Blair Anderson, as well as his nieces Tricia Sayle Kennedy Erwin (Dustin) and Elena Jordan Hudson. William attended school at Ensworth School, Cedu, St Andrews in Sewanee, TN and Berry College in GA. William was a child of nature. He was happiest in the woods or on the water with his faithful companion Alo (Bear, Sheeba, or Banchi Bear) and one of his devoted friends. William was a rich man. He was unencumbered by societal standards and expectations, and he lived a life full of rich connections with everyone he met. William never met a stranger and was deeply interested in knowing people’s stories. William was a gifted intellectual. He was an avid reader and consumer of information. He was passionate about Native American history, Egyptology, marine life, outdoor living, technology, cars, and great food. Over the course of his life, he was active in helping to protect Native American ruins and the great outdoors. He was the trusted mechanic of all who met him, and he has fixed more computers and electronics for friends and clients than imaginable. William stood behind his work with honor and spread his business by word of mouth. His happiest day would be starting out the day in the dark with some dear friends setting out to hunt deer, moose, elk, or turkey together. If not there, he would be with other friends exploring the culture of Costa Rica or Panama eating amazing food and cherishing the people he met along the way. William lived by the beat of his own drum in a nice, slow rhythm. He knew that the most important thing in life was the people we shared it with, so if you got to share your life with him, you knew you were loved. William will be deeply missed by all who shared his journey. Please come join us to celebrate William’s life at El Agavero Mexican Restaurant in Bellevue at 5pm on Thursday, August 8th or at the visitation on Friday, August 9th from 9-11am at Mount Olivet with the Memorial service to follow. We would love to hear all about the adventures you shared with William! In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Tennessee Ancient Sites Conservancy in honor of William’s passionate devotion to Native American culture.
