Edna Lucille Hudgins

Edna Lucille Hudgins, 90, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, May 11, 2018. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she served as a mentor for the Junior Memory Work Tournament during the 1960's. Edna retired from Belk Department Store and was also very active in our community, serving as a Gray Lady at the hospital and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose (New Bern Lodge) She is lovingly survived by her three children, Lt. Col. (RET) Douglas N. Jones (Michelle) of San Antonio, Texas, John Wilson Jones (Rebecca) of Kitty Hawk, and Jettie Jones Pelletier (Gerald) of Trent Woods; grandchildren, Christopher Jones (Maura), Amanda Jones, Ashley Payne, Wendy Kauffman (Andy), Rob Mallard (Jaime), Chad Jones, and Ethan Jones; great grandchildren, Emma and Charlie Jones, Kendyl Fontenot, Hannah, Chandler, Carter and Everleigh Payne, Isac Kauffman, Presley Lucille Mallard and Caleb Jones. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, May 14th at First Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Dr. Richard Seagle officiating. She will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
