Obituary of Kenneth C. Camelo
Kenneth C. Camelo, 80, of New Hyde Park, New York, passed away peacefully at his home on May 8, 2019. Kenneth was born in the Bronx, New York to Charles F. Camelo and Loretta Camelo (nee Lassen) on August 24, 1938. He graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School in 1957 and began his life-long banking career as a teller, advancing to Vice President of Mortgage Banking at the New York Bank for Savings and retiring from Ridgewood Savings Bank as Senior Vice President in December 2004. He was a member of the Valley Stream Knights of Columbus, loved to travel and took great pride in his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Cape Cod was one of his favorite vacation spots and his love for the beaches, fishing, the Wellfleet drive in and whale watching lives on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a regular at one of his favorite restaurants, Angoletto’s, where he shared many dinners with family and friends. Kenneth is survived by many loving family members, his wife Laura, his three daughters, Dianne and her husband Tom, Lori, Theresa and her husband Rudy, and his “son” Jason Easteadt and his wife, Ashley, his eleven grandchildren, John and his wife, Kristin, Dominick and his significant other, Vanessa, Thomas and his wife, Lauren, Taylor and her fiancé Peter, Nicholas, Camille, Rudy, Jared, Hannah, Bowe and Andie, and seven great grandchildren, Dominick, Juliana, Giavanna, Milianna, Johnny, Olivia and Vivianna, all of whom will miss him dearly. The family will be receiving visitors at R. Stutzmann & Son Funeral Home, 2000 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY on Saturday May 11th from 6 – 9 pm and on Sunday May 12th from 2 – 4 pm and 7 -9 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday May 13th at 10:15 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 45 Mayfair Road, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all those who took such compassionate care of Kenneth in the final weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice Care Network or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
