NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Mary Ann Migues Hall Coco, age 85, at 11:30 am Monday, March 18, 2019 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Monday until service time. A native of Weeks Island and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Coco passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Consolata Nursing Home. Prior to her marriage in 1953, Mary Ann worked at the old Dauterive Hospital on Duperier Street in New Iberia. She was widowed at age 32 when her first husband, E.P. Hall, died suddenly at age 39 in 1966. They were very happily married for twelve years prior to his death. She was left with four young children ages 2 to 11 to raise on her own. She remarried six years later and had twenty-one loving years with her second husband, Myron A. Coco, Sr. until his death in 1993. In 2011, she endured another tragic loss when her son died suddenly at age 56. In her later years she proved how strong she was by overcoming life threatening medical issues numerous times. She was a true survivor in every sense of the word. Mary Ann was an avid reader and book collector. She loved crossword and word search puzzles. She enjoyed spending time outside, gardening, and going to the casino. She loved the Publisher’s Clearing House contest and was firmly convinced her doorbell was going to ring any minute announcing her as the winner. Her greatest joy was her family and the time spent with them. She shared a birthday with her granddaughter, Marcie, and this was very special to both of them. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Hall Parastar and husband Mike of Santa Fe, TX; Elizabeth Hall Barbin and husband Kim of Bush, LA and Kathy Hall Armentor and husband Andy of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Allison Powers and husband BJ; Marcie Ramirez and husband Manny; Stacie Gonzalez and husband Michael; Douglas Barbin and wife Cassie; Steven Barbin; Jonathan Armentor; Benjamin Armentor and Sarah Armentor; nine great grandchildren, Katy Powers; Sayde Powers; Alayna Powers; Mia Ramirez; Dominic Ramirez; Holly Gonzalez; Jared Gonzalez; Logan Barbin and Hannah Barbin and three sisters, Gladys Eskind of Delcambre and Shirley Romero and Becky Blanchard and her sister in law, Nedreal Migues, all of New Iberia. She is also survived by Myron A. “Bud” Coco, Jr. and wife Margaret of Loreauville; her godchildren Tiffany Wattigny and Laurel Higgins of New Iberia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, E.P. Hall; second husband, Myron A. Coco, Sr.; one son, John B. Hall; her parents, Sidney Migues, Sr. and Martha Hebert Migues; one sister, Earldean Boutte and three brothers, Alex Migues, Joe Migues and Sidney Migues, Jr. Pallbearers will be Douglas Barbin, Steven Barbin, Jonathan Armentor, Benjamin Armentor, Brian Blanchard and Manny Ramirez. Her daughters would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jose’ Mata and the staff at Consolata Nursing Home for the excellent and compassionate care given to their mother.
