Obituary of Senielle Marie Kogut
FRANKLIN - Senielle Marie Kogut, 37, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday July 29th after a long battle with PTSD and complications from Huntington’s Disease. A graduate of NFA, Senielle served 12years in the Connecticut National Guard as a Carpenter-Mason. She deployed overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 248th Engineer Company (2003-2004). She was recognized as the first female Veteran of Foreign Wars in the Town of Franklin. She is survived by her mother and father Linda and John Kogut of Franklin. She is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Sonja and Scott Smilinich of Oakdale, and brother and sister-in-law John and Louise Kogut of Coventry, RI. She is also survived by her grandmother Diane Stefanski (Muenzner), grandfather John Pitschendeder, aunts and uncles William Muenzner, Randy and Hong Muenzner, Edwin and Nancy Muenzner, Stefan and Melinda Muenzner, Anastaciaand Glenn Lemaire, Christopher and Nancy Kogut, Rudy and Woodi Pitscheneder, Lisa Pitscheneder, Richard Pitscheneder and numerous cousins. Senielle was predeceased by her great-grandparents Edwin and Isabelle Popplston, and grandparents William F. Muenzner Sr. and Joseph and Blanche Kogut. Senielle appreciated nature. She enjoyed hiking and watching for birds, butterflies, and dragonflies while on nature walks. She loved spending time at the beach and walking along the ocean. Senielle was an animal lover, she rode horses as a child and her dogs Mae and Rem were her babies. Throughout her childhood, she played soccer and was a catcher on her softball’s All-Star Team. Senielle was very religious and loved Jesus with her whole heart. She was the first female alter-server at St. Francis of Assisi church in Lebanon. She also participated in the children’s choir at her church and would perform in her church’s passion play. Senielle and her mother Linda would read their morning and evening devotionals together daily. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16. She had an eye for detail and would help her father John with home improvement projects. Senielle had a special relationship with each of her siblings, Sonja and John, and loved them deeply. Senielle and Sonja enjoyed running, and ran the Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach. She shared her love of music with her younger brother John and they went to many concerts together. She loved spending time with her family. She had an infectious laugh and a very silly sense of humor (especially in the text messages she would send to her parents). She is loved by so many people and will be missed. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 9th from 5pm - 7pm at the Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 10am at The Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT (Meet directly at the church) Following the Mass there will be a procession to the Janet Carlson Calvert Library, 5 Tyler Dr., Franklin, CT where Military Honors will be rendered in honor of Senielle's service to God and Country.
