Obituary of Velma G. Parker
On Friday, January 4, 2019, Velma Gertrude Knapp Parker, loving mother of eight children, passed away at the age of 81. Velma was born May 6, 1937 in North Pharsalia, NY. Velma loved crafts and was known for sewing quilts, playing cards, cooking and spending time with her family. She spent her life working many jobs from a dairy farm to the Norwich Shoe Factory, but spent the majority of her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and retired from Wellington Hospital in Wellington, Florida. She had an infectious smile and a wonderful sense of humor that her family will miss deeply. She was easy going and lived a vast life. She had a tough spirit and was a true survivor, having been diagnosed with cancer on three occasions. Velma is preceded by her son Marvin Joe Stephens, and her daughter Tammy Lynn Collins, her parents, Frank and Grace (Brazee) Knapp, and her siblings; Stanley Knapp, Lyle Knapp, Lawrence Knapp, Cleo Taylor, Martha Knapp and Leila Knapp. She is survived by her children; Delmar Steve, Randy James, Ronnie Ray, Tina Marie, Connie Louise, and Bobbi Jo. She is also survived by her siblings; Jerry Knapp, Gene Knapp, Cecil Knapp Fink, Nancy Knapp Morris, Diana Knapp Wadsworth, Daisy Knapp Larussa, and Terry Knapp Donnelly, as well as 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Velma will be arranged by R.J. Fahy Funeral Home located in Norwich, New York and she will be laid to rest in the spring in the South Plymouth Cemetery in South Plymouth, New York. She will be forever in our hearts.
