Obituary of Sarah V. Masse
Sarah Veronica (Lentini) Masse, a resident of Norwood for 70 years, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019. She was 99 years old, and spent her last year at Traditions of Dedham where she cherished all her new friends and the time she spent with them. She loved all types of needle work, and even making her own attire. She also enjoyed oriental rug making and made rugs for many family members. “Sally,” as her family and friends called her, grew up in Dorchester, she started her career as a sales associate at Hovey’s Department Store in Boston, where she met her husband “Ray.” Later she worked at Jordan Marsh in Boston, as a sales associate, then worked doing alternations at Cherry Webb and Touraine in Dedham. She was a kind and gentle lady, who was always happy to lend a helping hand. Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Rene J. Masse. She is survived by her children; Anthony Masse and his wife Susan of South Easton, Marilyn L. Holman of West Yarmouth and Carolyn M. Servello and her husband Victor of Dedham; her grandchildren; Victor Servello Jr, Christina Dunham and her fiancé Michael Petrillo, Gina Byrd and her husband Thomas, Johanna Masse and Joshua Masse; her great-grandsons; Aaden and Parker Byrd; and her niece, Janet Kelley, who joined the family in weekly visits to her Aunt Sally. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood. Relatives and Friends will gather at Gillooly Funeral Home at 8:00 AM and proceed to Saint Catherine of Siena, 549 Washington Street, Norwood for her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
