Obituary of John William Lehr
John William Lehr, 85, of Newalla, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday December 6, 2017 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 9, 1932 in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania to Adolph Robert and Elsie Esther Neischwender Lehr. John married Minerva Matilda Kreiser June 29, 1957, and moved their family to Midwest City in 1967 when his job transferred to Tinker AFB. After more than 30 years at Tinker, John entered semi-retirement as an usher in Oklahoma City. Of all the events he worked, his favorite was always an NBA game. You would never see John sitting still for too long. He loved to travel. If he could turn a drive into a cross-country road trip he would. John would camp with his family monthly. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, whether they were at the next camp site or in line at the grocery store. You might also find John bowling, fishing, or tending to the vegetables in his garden. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Minerva, his brother Donald Lehr of Midwest City, OK; and sisters Helen Klinger of Harrisburg, PA; and Carol Lehr of Sandstone, MN. John is survived by his three children: daughters Connie Lehr of Midwest City, OK; and Dawn Lerner and husband Lee of Newalla, OK; and son Neal Lehr and wife Valerie of Kingwood, TX; his nine grandchildren Scott Delsigne, Amy Yousey and husband Anthony, Kim Cowart and husband J.C., Lee Lerner and wife Jessica, Joseph Lerner and wife Elizabeth, John C. Lehr, Nicolas Metcalf, Tracey Cavasos and husband Colby, and Joshua Metcalf; his eight great grandchildren Shelby, Raeleigh, Cody, Xavier, Isaiah, Wakelynn, Eden, and Ruby; his siblings Marian Floyd of Las Vegas, NV; Ruth Lutz and partner Bill of Lebanon, PA; Roy Lehr and wife Diane; Grace Brown and husband G. Francis; and Mary Brown and husband Dale, all of Pine Grove, PA; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m Wednesday December 13, 2017 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141 with Military Funeral Honors and burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
