Edward Charles Stalter Sr.
February 2, 1925 – October 20, 2019

Edward C. ”Nick” Stalter Sr, age 94, formerly of Maryland, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, October 20, 2019.
He was born on Feb 2, 1925 in Doodletown, NY. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the LST 294 during WWII.
Ed was a Teamster for 44 years as a driver for Linden Motor Freight.
He married the love of his life Marie, in Newark, NJ. They had 2 boys, Edward Jr & Ronald. Ed cherished his family above all else. He was a kind and generous man. He’d give the shirt off his own back to anyone in need. He always had a smile on his face. He loved to fish on his boat, the Lost Laker, watch the Yankees play ball, spend his mornings at Dunkin Donuts and his Wednesday nights at the Elks Club.
He is survived by his daughter in law, Susan; grandchildren, Evan, Kate and Sarah; and his great grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Nicholas, Luciano and Lucas. He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family, friends and others whose life was touched by Ed are invited to say goodbye on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, from 3-5 pm. A prayer service will follow immediately at 5 pm.
Entombment will take place in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ, on Friday, October 25, at the convenience of the family.
The family will hold a final service at Holy Cross Mausoleum on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 1 pm, with a repast to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory are asked to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
