William Joseph Thornton, 79, passed away on August 6, 2019. He was born in Louisville, KY. In his younger years, Bill was in the Army and National Guard. Later, he had career in the brewery business that spanned five decades. He was a family man and a jack-of-all-trades. He loved fixing things, remodeling houses, and fishing. He was a dreamer with a true entrepreneurial spirit. He owned/operated several businesses over his life-time. Bill was a teacher, mentor and friend. He was the rock of the family and will forever and ever be missed.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie and survived by his daughter, Gena (Jason) Thornton-Middle; mother, Mary Jo Thornton; 2 grandchildren: Liam and Emilee Middle; aunt, Martha Brodbeck; fiancé, Madine Kammerdiener; brother, Danny Thornton; sister, Debbie Miller; and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday August 16, 2019 with visitation held 1 hour prior to service at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 11 AM in Louisville, Kentucky. Please post words of comfort at www.hardage-giddensrivermead.com.
