Obituary of Lucia "Lin" Juanico Martindale-Britt
Lucia De Mesa Juanico Martindale Britt “Lin”, 86, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. She was born on the Island of Panay in the Philippines on January 7, 1933. Lin studied accounting at the University of the Philippines before meeting her first husband Wayne Martindale, who was an Airman in the US Air Force stationed at Clark Air Force Base near Manila . Lin arrived in the U.S. in 1960 with her husband and they settled in South Florida. Lin became a US Citizen a few years later. Lin’s 1st Job in the U.S. was as an interpreter (several dialects of Filipino languages and Spanish) for the Miss Universe Pageant in the early 1960’s. Lin was one of the founders of the Filipino-American Association of Florida in Miami in the late 1960’s.Lin worked as a professional bartender for over 15 years on Miami Beach during the 1960’s and 1970’s and became one of the most popular bartenders in the major Miami Beach hotel circuit. Lin was active for many years with Special Olympics Florida and other special needs recreation programs with the Miami-Dade Parks Department starting in the late 1960’s. In 1983, Lin’s first husband passed away due to illness and she met a young auto body shop owner named Jerry Britt several years later. Lin and Jerry started a dating relationship in 1986 and remained an inseparable couple until her recent passing. Lin and Jerry were married in Miami in 1996. Lin and Jerry became active members of several Car Clubs and community service groups in Miami area starting in the mid-1980’s. In the early 2000’s, moved from Miami to the Daytona Beach area. Lin and Jerry purchased a home in the Forest Quest neighborhood. Lin became an active member of the Hunter’s Ridge Ladies’s Club and joined her husband Jerry as active members of the Flagler County Corvette Club. During her lifetime, Lin actively supported the careers of her four children who became career medical professionals, firefighters and law enforcement officers. To date, Lin’s grandsons have attained numerous honors such as an appointment as a commissioned officer in the US Army, recipients of college baseball scholarships and have been consistently recognized for exceptional performance in academics, the arts and student leadership. Lucia De Mesa Juanico Martindale Britt is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jerry Britt; children: Ann Marie Martindale Capati, Tony Martindale, Chris Martindale, Guy Martindale; grandsons: Wayne Martindale, Collin Martindale, Noah Martindale, Garrett Martindale, Brody Martindale, Mason Martindale, Matthew Martindale, Branden Martindale; great-grandson: Baker Martindale; grand-children in the Philippines: Andrew Camaisa and Mary Ann Camaisa. Lin will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
