Mahlon Charles Weaver

Mahlon Charles Weaver was born in Newbury Township, Ohio on October 8, 1924 and moved to heaven on June 13, 2019. He spent 64 years as a devoted husband to Alta (Miller) Weaver, who preceded him in death. A loving father to Barbara Winn (Terry), Susan Rodriguez (Ron), Pete Weaver (Cindy), and Kathy Estes. A treehouse building, milkshake making grandfather to 6 and great-grandfather to 6. Known as “Pa” to most, “Chuck” to some, and “Boomer” to others… …but above all else, he was known as a selfless servant to his God, family, and country. As a member of the Army’s 7th Calvary regiment (Gary Owen) in the Korean War, Mahlon was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat in November 1951. Despite this, he went on to inspire all who knew him, spending the next six decades upright after being told he would never walk again. Mahlon planted each foot in front of the other as he continued into a life of service as an educator for the next forty years. Defying all odds to do so after leaving school post-8th grade to work full-time to help support his Amish family. Amidst earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and bowling multiple games of 300, Mahlon was a lifelong deacon in the church and member of the choir. And when he took the rare moment to himself, you’d likely find him with a guitar in his lap or on the back of a motorcycle. Or, if you were lucky, riding his motorcycle into the living room with the guitar strapped to his back, stopping briefly to sing “Ain’t Nothing but a Hound Dog.” A story that he and Alta are surely laughing about again now that they are reunited. Service will be held at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, June 23rd at 6:00 p.m.
