Annie Sue Bowie passed from this Earth, on September 30, 2019, at the of age 93. She was born and grew up in Big Eastatoee Valley, Sunset, S.C. She was the youngest child of the late George Franklin and Grace Lewis Bowie.
After her graduation from Pickens High School, Sue prepared for a profession by attending Draughon’s Business College, in Greenville, S.C. She established a long-term career with Singer Manufacturing Company in Pickens where she displayed her dedicated work ethic. Sue became one of the company’s first computer operators paving the way for automation.
Upon retirement, Annie Sue enjoyed travel adventures throughout the country and around the world. Annie Sue especially enjoyed her visit to Brazil, and wilderness experiences in Canada, Panama, and National Parks.
Sue was a wealth of knowledge concerning the rich history of Pickens County and stories of the ole days would come alive through her stories of personal experiences, friendships, and family lore. If you were in the need to know – just ask Sue. Her crystal-clear memory and wit will be a great loss to us all.
She was living at The Willows of Easley when she passed. There she crocheted prayer shawls, loved to read, work on puzzles, and play games.
She is predeceased by her sister, Ruby Welborn, and brothers George Bowie and Jesse Carlisle Bowie. Sue was a sweet aunt to her nieces and nephews and she had many, many special cousins.
The funeral is a graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, S.C., on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 10:00 am. Thank you to all who cared for Annie Sue.
