Obituary of Anna Maria (Farinon) Solda
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, Nonna, Bisnonna, Anna Maria Solda on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 87. Anna was born in Valdagno, Italy on March 30, 1931. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband, Giovanni; daughter Lori and her brother Mariano. She is survived by her children: Gianni (Cindy), Ivo (Patti), Susi (Boe), Rosa (Mark), and son-in-law Randy, grandchildren: Pietro, Carlo, Natasha, Kirsten, Vittoria, Sabrina, Santino, Carla, Maria, Taylor, Luke, Angelina, Kristin, Nikayla and Natalia; 19 great grandchildren; her sisters Onorina, Regina, Gilda, her sister-in-law Angelina; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Married to Giovanni, the love of her life for 61 years, Anna joined Giovanni in Tahsis, BC in July 1957, then moved to Port Alberni with their 5 children in 1965. In 1969 they bought Betty’s Deep Fry which became Solda’s Restaurant, being in business to date for 49 years; the longest family owned restaurant in Port Alberni. Anna’s love and passion for the restaurant and for people was evident up until her death. Anna lived life to the fullest; enjoying every moment with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends. Family was everything to Mama Solda. She will be sorely missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, BC with Father Peter Switzer officiating. A Service of Remembrance to honour Anna will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC. Cremation has taken place.
