Kenneth W. Cooper of Lake Oswego passed away on June 3, 2019. He was 87. Ken was born in Toppenish, WA on February 8, 1932. A proud Bearcat, Ken graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Willamette University. Ken went on to complete a M.P.A. degree from Cal State East Bay. He retired in 1995 after enjoying a long and distinguished career as the Community Services Director at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA. Ken was deeply engaged in the Gilroy Community and was one of the founders of the Gilroy Garlic Festival. A person of faith, Ken was an active member of Gilroy Presbyterian Church and Lake Grove Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Dan Cooper (Terri), Nancy Emerich (Chris), and Tom Cooper (Jennifer); five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2019, at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, 4040 Sunset Drive, Lake Oswego, OR. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
