Obituary of Earl Francis Hearrell
Earl Francis Hearrell of Ravenna, Ohio, born October 4th, 1928, in Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 30th, 2019 He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Catherine Yavone(Lanham) Hearrell last December. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Chris and Dave(deceased) Waller of Kent, Ohio, Laurie and Lee Summers, of Ravenna, Ohio, and Tammie and Carl Wunderle of Kent, Ohio. He was proud of his 10 grandchildren. One, his beloved Todd Wunderle preceded him. Earl and Catherine enjoyed their 19 Great-grandchildren whom several sat at his feet and by his bedside sharing their life and stories with “Great –Grampa” daily in Laurie & Lee’s home. Happy final days for Dad! Earl spent most of his Childhood in Charleston, Ohio with is 13 siblings on the farm, he is survived by 2 remaining, Martha (Hearrell) James of Florida and Racy Hearrell oF Alliance, Ohio. As a young man he stayed at home to help the family as his brothers and one sister went to world war 2. One of his first jobs was at East Park at “cotton corners” in Ravenna “When it was a gas station also” Earl would remind everyone! Earl met Catherine “Irish” as he called her, the love of his life at the Ravenna armory, roller skating and married August 25th in 1950…a few years later they ended up buying what would be the family home for the rest of their lives 3 blocks away from the original Ravenna Armory on the same street they met. Earl was a member of the Bricklayers Union local 13 and many coworkers called him “The Governor”, or “The Mayor” who ran A tight ship…he was heard to say on many occasions, “Wrong I may be, but Forman I am!” Earl worked for many years with his brother at Dan Hearrell Construction company as the construction company of his grandfather the generation before. He was also Construction Forman on many of the buildings at Kent State University. The Governor was a very colorful man with songs, and many sayings we called “Earl’s pearls”. His dedication as a husband and Father who worked hard to provide for his family will be an example for generations as we tell the stories! We love you Daddy, Chris, Laurie and Tammie “A son ‘s a son ‘till he takes a wife, but a daughter’s a daughter all your life!” Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Charlestown Cemetery with a Celebration of Life following at 2:30 PM at the Ravenna Eagles Club, 812 Cleveland Rd, Ravenna, Ohio.
