Obituary of Marjorie Radu
Marjorie passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 14, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. She was 96 years old. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, George Radu in 2004. Marjorie was born to Nick and Angelina Zaremba. She was predeceased by her 12 brothers and sisters. In 1940, at the age of 18 Marjorie married George Radu, her devoted husband of 64 years. George predeceased Marge in 2004. She was introduced to the truth by Sister Katie Ferguson, who was one of the anointed. Wilfred Ebel and a pioneer sister engaging in prestudy service called to invite Marjorie to the Bible study. Immediately She got dressed and went to the study. Since then she attended meetings regularly. As a result her older sisters, Helen Swerid, and Mary Tiganish heard that she was studying the Bible and asked if they could have a study too. All Helen’s seven children and Mary’s son Ron are actively serving Jehovah. Marge faced much opposition from her family for leaving the religion of her parents. Her husband George never became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses but he was very supportive. Canada was under ban when Marjorie started in the ministry and many times she had to work on her own. A memorable and exciting time was having a share in petitioning people for a Bill of Rights. In 1946, she attended the “Glad Nations Theocratic Assembly” in Cleveland, Ohio. She was baptized on August 15, 1947. Another highlight of her life was the privilege of attending three large conventions in New York City. In 1978, over 80,000 enjoyed the “Victorious Faith International Convention” in Montreal that Marge was privileged to attend. Marjorie was a fearless Witness and would talk about Jehovah to everyone she met. She was more than a Bible teacher she had a genuine love and interest in people. In the 1940’s there were a mere handful of Witnesses in Regina. In 2018 there are seven congregations. Marjorie’s love for Jehovah moved her to be a zealous pioneer despite health problems and harsh weather conditions for over 30 years. She was a loyal and faithful Witness for over 70 years. As Auntie’s family we want to thank her for her faithful example, her love and support to our mothers and how proud we are of her. We want to thank the Westminster Care Home, all the caregivers, and faithful friends for the love you felt and showed for our dear Aunt. Most of all, we want to thank you for your prayers. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018, at 1:30 p.m., in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Van Egmond Place, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marj’s name may be made to the Glen Elm Congregation, 2020 Van Egmond Place, Regina, SK S4N 7L6.
