Obituary of Ancel Maurice Grubbs
Ancel Maurice Grubbs, 93, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away on May 14, 2019 in Mesquite, Texas. Visitation will be 6 to 8pm Friday, May 17, 2019 at Sparkman Funeral Home 1029 S. Greenville Ave. Richardson, TX 75081 Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Sparkman Funeral Home with Pastor Clay Wallace of Dallas Metro Ministries, officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery 13005 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX 75243. Ancel or Andy as many called him was born in a Rail Road Box Car near Griffin, Arkansas on June 29, 1925 to Millard Fillmore Grubbs and Dora Mae Grubbs. He was afraid to go to school because he never knew if his house would still be in the same place when he got home. He went to school in Bald Knob, Arkansas. He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Lee Maddox on January 30, 1943. He left high school to join the Army Air Corps in 1943 where he served in WWII as a radioman/forward observer. He returned home and was later drafted to serve in the Korean War in the early 1950's. He received many service medals, including his cherished and hard-earned US Combat Veterans Medal, 3 Silver stars, many more commendations and yes... even a good conduct medal. After his military service, he finished his high school education, completed barber college to become a master barber and then graduated from watch maker's school and became a watch repairman. He went on to continue serving the US government as a certified Quality Assurance Specialist assigned to various manufacturers producing weapon systems for the US Government. God blessed him with his entrepreneurial spirit, which took him to other opportunities to help and serve others. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Mesquite, Texas for 50 years. His passion was serving God and our Great USA. Ancel is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wilma, daughter Gail Grubbs, Granddaughter Jennifer Grubbs and Grandson Steven Grubbs: Keeping in mind that at 93 years old, a whole lot of family will be waiting for him in heaven including both of his parents, Millard and Dora Grubbs, two brothers, Garland Grubbs and Fred Grubbs and sister Dora Grubbs. Ancel is survived by sons; Larry Grubbs and his wife Brenda, Brad Grubbs and his wife Angie, and Randy Grubbs and his wife Leslie. 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brian Grubbs, Marvin Blankenship, Payton Blakenship, Justin Almand, Chase McTaggart, Jordan Fenton, Jesse Crook, and Stephen Garrick.
