Obituary of John Stephen Pace
John Stephen Pace passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at age 72. Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. John was born on January 17, 1947 in Brewton, Alabama. He was the oldest child of Grover Pace and Doris Davenport Pace. At age 19, he married his high school sweetheart, Jamie Lanier Pace, and although Brewton remained their primary residence until 1990, John traveled and worked extensively throughout the United States and abroad supervising industrial construction projects. After working in Slovakia, New Zealand, Japan, and in many places around the United States (large and small), he moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1990, living in both Portland, Oregon and then later in Battleground, Washington. Near the end of his 42-year career, he moved back to the south and ultimately settled in Brandon, Mississippi to be near his son and his family. An avid outdoorsman and craftsman, John loved hunting and fishing, as well as woodworking in the shop behind his home. He also cherished his time working at a local hardware store, where he was still employed at the time of his passing. A husband, father, and grandfather, John will be greatly missed by his family. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jamie Lanier Pace, his son and daughter-in-law, Chris Pace and Katrina Taylor Pace, and his three granddaughters, Rachael Lynn Pace, Sarah Katherine Pace, and Natalie Anne Pace. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Pace (Patty) and Jeff Pace, and by his sister Sandra Pace Garmeson, and their families. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
