Rose Marie Johnson

Rose Marie (Bell) Johnson, 85, of Roswell, GA, passed away May 8, 2019 in Tampa, Florida after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was raised in Covington, Georgia, daughter of Joseph and Jessie (Reeder) Bell. She graduated from Newton County High School in 1953, then moved to Atlanta working for the First National Bank of Atlanta. Rose was a self-taught seamstress known for the quality of her creations. She sewed uniforms for the Young Singers of Callenwolde Fine Arts Center for three years during the 1980's. Rose sewed costumes for The Atlanta Christmas Pageant for 17 years and her costumes are still worn to this day. She was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta. During her membership, Rose sang Soprano in the choir, served as Director of Mother's Day Out and Preschool for many years. Rose rescued any stray animal that came to her door, taking many trips to the Chattahoochee Nature Center in hopes of healing and release.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Gene Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Evan) Graff, and son, Kenneth Johnson, and two grandchildren, Tashawn and Alissa Johnson.
Visitation will be at Roswell Funeral Home 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia on May 14, 2019 from 6-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, May 15, 2019 at Roswell Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends will be escorted to the graveside service, followed by a reception at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
