David Robert Gibson

On Sept 29, 2019, David R. Gibson (85) lost his heroic fight. He passed with his devoted wife of 58 years Irene W. Gibson (Ailinger) at his side as she was throughout their life together. Along with his wife, David is survived by his children Kathryn Mclaughlin of Estero FL, Kenneth Gibson and his wife Maggi of Walpole MA and Maryalice Shorten and her husband Patrick of Sandwich MA. He was preceded in death by his son David Gibson. David was proud to have seven grandchildren, Megan & Michael McLaughlin, David Gibson (Lindsey), Alex Taurone, Patrick, Rebecca, & David (Jaime) Shorten and also his beloved great grandchildren Zola and Charlie Shorten & Liam Gibson. David also leaves his sister Joan Hughes and her husband Paul of Burlington MA. Born in Boston, Dec 22, 1933, David has called Sandwich MA his home for the past 23 years, also having lived previously in Weymouth and Waltham MA. He was proud to have been a retired Federal Government employee (40years), and an Army Veteran. He was an avid gamer and established and participated in a weekly men’s card get-together at the Sandwich Council on Aging for the past 15+ years. Family and friends are invited to visitation Oct 2, 2019 at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, MA from 4-7pm with morning visitation on Oct. 3, 2019 from 9:30-10:30am and a 11:00am funeral mass at Corpus Christi Parish, Sandwich, MA. Burial will be private.
