IN THE CARE OF
Mourning Glory – Acadia McKague's Funeral Chapel
At age 101 Edith passed away peacefully at Stonebridge Crossing on June 10th surrounded by family. Edith was born on the family farm outside Palmer, Sk. She attended Normal School and while teaching in Vantage met her first husband, Clarence Anderson. Clarence died in 1943 while serving overseas in the R.A.F. Edith later completed her BA at the U of S where she met her second husband, Stewart Penley. They raised three children and were blessed with the joys of grandchildren, extended family, and many strong friendships.Edith enjoyed writing, painting, crafts, music, reading, Bridge, gardening, curling, golf, bowling, and travel. She was an active member of the Grosvenor Park United Church for many years and taught Sunday school, led Explorers and CGIT and delivered Meals On Wheels. For the CNIB she recorded textbooks onto tapes. Above all, Edith loved her family and was a very active grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Pearle Kennedy, sister-in-law, Sheila Cochlan; her children, Leni Penley, Gail Nordstrom, and Robert Penley; grandchildren, Steven Trull (Leanne Priddell), Tamara Day (Fred), Carlin Nordstrom, and Shaina Nordstrom (Kaniel Powell); seven great grandchildren, Brooklynne, Tatum, Alexandra, Graysen, Stewart, Owen, Isaiah, and one great grandchild, Sophia. She was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Alf Cochlan; siblings, Wallace Cochlan, Alice Hill, and Alf Cochlan; husbands, Clarence Anderson & Stewart Penley; and Brother-in-law, Bill Penley (Margaret). Edith, like many women of her generation, was a strong, loving, and generous woman who calmly weathered many storms and focused on the positives in life. For the last five years she battled failing health, macular degeneration, and dementia with courage, a positive attitude, dignity, grace, and love. Thank you to the Arbor staff at Stonebridge Crossing Retirement Community for their loving and compassionate care and also to Dr. Rina Malan.
