Obituary of Florence Tetreault
With deep regret and sorrow the family of Florence Tetreault must announce the passing of their beloved “Flo”. The 104 + years of life were lived to the fullest until a stroke on Aug 8th, 2018 took her will to live. Florence was the first child to be born at the hospital in St Brieux and was one of ten children. Her parents died young, so Florence and her sister Edith willingly accepted the responsibility for keeping the family together. Florence was passionate about her love of family and friends and throughout her life, worked hard to show it. Her boundless energy was a force in organizing events for family, agencies and the clubs she was involved with such as Bridge and Quilting. Some of the quilts she worked on won competitions and hung in the parliament buildings in Saskatchewan and Ottawa. She was a proud seamstress and Canadian and her hand-made costumes reflected her pride every Canada Day. Her creative ability extended into art forms of painting and mechanical embroidery and continued painting and sewing until she was 104 years old. She was employed as a Matron for 17 years with Saskatoon’s City Police Department and later with RCMP. At home, on Garrison Crescent, she provided board and room for many out of town students for many years. During her husband’s illness, they moved into “the Franklin” where, thankfully, she happily stayed for 13 years because of the thoughtful staff. She is survived by two sons Maurice (Jean) and Armand (Sharron); grandchildren, great grand-children, great-great-grandchild; two sisters Adeline Hoffman and Evelyn Folden; brothers-in Law Stan and Louis Tetreault; sister-in law Eva Lefebve. The family is grateful for the staff at Sunnyside nursing home who provided her with loving care during her final days.
