Obituary of Mrs. Jeanette Christie
JEAN CHRISTIE passed away at the age of 91 on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Jean was born on November 27th, 1927 in Leipzig, Saskatchewan. Jean was married to the true love of her life Bob Christie on February 13th, 1946. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, her 3 children, Bob (Pat), Bonnie (Mel) and Chris (Sharon); her eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and two surviving brothers, Fredrick and Leslie Delainey. Relatives and friends from all parts of her time on this earth are also left to recall her in the way she had touched their lives. Jean loved life, particularly the parts of it that involved the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, golf (achieved a hole-in-one!), baking and most of all her grandchildren. She had a way about her that made you want to be around her just to soak up her outgoing, genuine appreciation of life. When Jean attended one of her first dinners at the Luther Riverside Terrace, proudly wearing her Saskatchewan Roughriders shirt, it sparked a great relationship amongst many of the people in the dining room allowing them to enjoy the riders with her. Jean was a hard worker with a positive attitude and an infectious smile you couldn’t miss. She took great pride in sharing these attributes with all the people she served during her over 40 years of customer service with Canada Safeway, Hewgill’s Drug Store and Shoppers Drug Mart. She was most proud of receiving the “Saskatoon Board of Trade Phantom Tourist Award’ in 1968. The family would like to acknowledge those that made her life as comfortable as possible in her final year. Thank you to Dr. A. Berger, the nurses from Palliative Care that guided us over the past year, and all the staff at Riverside Terrace that treated her so kindly during her stay with them. Jean has now taken her place beside her true love Bob and will forever be remembered dearly in the hearts of her family and friends. In Jean’s memory, donations may be made to COPD Research and Programs through the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street East Saskatoon, SK. S7H 0S5.
