Obituary of Linus C Scherman
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linus (Lin) Cornelius Scherman on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 after a short brave fight against cancer. Lin was born in Wilkie, Saskatchewan on August 31, 1937. He was the second oldest of five children born to John and Frances Scherman. The family lived in Leipzig, Saskatchewan and there still remains lots of family in the area. Lin moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1966 with his wife and young family. He worked most of his life in the construction industry, building steel buildings in and around the area. Lin was a carpenter at heart, and loved working with his hands. Countless hours were spent “building” in his beloved garage. The bright yellow purple martin bird hotel, stood in the center of the “pond” at the cabin, and was one of his prized creations. Lin’s greatest build was the family cabin that he built using salvaged wood from an old barn. And over countless years, the cabin has been a place to share and make wonderful memories with many family and friends. Lin loved bird watching, picking Saskatoon berries, cooking on his homemade brick barbeque, and when the kids were young, took great pride in pulling four of them, at one time, on water skies, behind the boat, around and around the lake! It was a place he loved. Lin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bev and his children Lou Anne (Perry Schulhauser), Cheryl Scherman, Jamie (Murray Deibert), Jill (Patrick Payne) and his son, Ron Scherman (Leanne Giesbrecht). Lin was grandpa to twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter. We would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for the care given to our dad. Please feel free to make a donation to the Close to Home Campaign for Hospice End-of-life Care in his memory. To find out more or to donate online visit www.closetohome.fund
