Obituary of Teresa Mark
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Teresa (Ngan So) Mark which occurred at St. Paul’s Hospital on the evening of Sunday, June 10, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Art Mark, and her children Tony Mark, Elaine Mark, Irene (Russ) Jackson, and Arthur Mark; two granddaughters, Elisha Jackson and Madison Mark; siblings Agnes Kwok, Paul Kwok, Elizabeth Kwok and John Kwok, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Marie and Joseph Kwok, and her brother, Rocky Kwok. Teresa was born in southern China in Guangdong province on November 1, 1946 and worked as a seamstress until she arrived in Canada in 1965, settling in Toronto. After their marriage in 1966, Teresa and Art moved to Saskatoon and helped in the Mark family business, Orient Trading Company. Teresa and Art continued the family business and were involved in several other businesses and community ventures, being part of a thriving Chinatown in the early 70s. She loved fashion and getting together with friends and family; she enjoyed a vibrant social life. She was an expert cook and enjoyed sharing her knowledge through teaching Chinese cooking to others. In recent years, Art and Teresa enjoyed travelling, especially to see their granddaughters in Calgary and Prince Albert. Teresa was known for her cheerful personality and bright smile. Even though she struggled with her health in recent years, she made time to visit with family and joined in celebrations when she could. The family would like to thank the following people whom extended care towards her health, acupuncturist and TCMP Russel Chute, reflexologist Jessica Morrelli, Amanda Proznik for Reiki, Kathryn Armstrong, Quantum practitioner Karen MacDonald, Pastor Willie and Maria from the Bethel Christian Fellowship and St. Paul’s Hospital, Dr. Lee, staff and nurses on the 6th floor for their patience and kind attention that they provided for Teresa during her recent illness.
