Steven Griess

Steven “Steve” Griess, 73 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home. His memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Aaron Nitz officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve was born July 26, 1945 in Hastings, Nebraska to Victor and Aldine (Oshener) Griess. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1963 and attended Western Nebraska Community College. On June 1, 1974, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hartman and the couple made their home in Scottsbluff. Steve was a custodian for the school system from 1963 to 1974, then he worked at COOP food store from 1974 to 1984. He attended Truck Driver school and graduated in 1990. He was employed at Western Sugar until they changed to Aulick Trucking and worked for the last 10 years, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing all types of games. Steve loved to talk and interact with people. Steve was a member of the church and 23 Club. Survivors include his wife Pat; brothers Terry Griess of Ft. Worth, TX and Alan Griess of Milford, NE; sister Susie Johnson of South Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Rebecca and brother Randy Griess. The family would like to thank all the people at DaVita for all their special care for him.
