Obituary of Victor McClung
Victor Alan McClung, 76, of Sikeston, went to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, on August 6, 2019. Victor was born on July 12, 1943 to the late James David and Wilma Elizabeth (Morgan) McClung in Randolph, Tennessee. He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1961 and trained in electronics/communications while serving in the Air Force from 1965-1968. On April 17, 1971, he married Paula Jean Bruenderman in Charleston, Missouri. Their first child, Margaret Elizabeth “Maggie”, was only on Earth a short time and they went on to raise four other children. Vic and friend, Larry Burden, owned and ran Burden-McClung Electric Service before he began working as a maintenance planner at Noranda Aluminum in Marston, Missouri. He retired from Noranda in 2009 after 28 years of service. Victor was also a gifted computer programmer, biscuit maker, and took seriously the responsibility of preparing the cheese grits for family gatherings. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Merle Haggard, westerns, and drag racing his Studebaker in the 60’s. But more than anything, he loved Jesus and his family. Nothing made his face light up quite like seeing his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his sons, John Paul (Katharine) McClung of St. Louis and Gabriel McClung of Sikeston; his daughters, Laura (Donnie) Landewee of Leopold, Missouri and Caroline (Greg) Yielding of Greeley, Colorado; his sisters, Ruth (Michael) Dillender of Bertrand, Missouri and Elaine McClung of Sikeston; and his six grandchildren, Elisha Yielding, Samuel, Autumn, and Amelia Landewee, and Margaret and Wallace McClung, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and daughter, Victor was preceded in death by his brother, James McClung of Sikeston, and his sister, Joan McClung of Sikeston. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO., Rev. Ron Shrum, Associate Pastor at Miner Baptist Church, officiating.
