Carolyn Ray Miles Durham

Mrs. Carolyn Ray Miles Durham, 71, of Statesville peacefully passed away on August 22, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House. Born on July 13, 1948 in Rockingham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rayford Edgar Miles and Helen Omie Finney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Elbridge G. Durham. She was a member of Agape Faith Church in Statesville. She loved her cats, the Carolina Panthers, the Tar Heels and loved to paint. To her, her love for the Lord and her family were paramount in her life. She was an active prayer warrior and member of the Praise Team for many years. Mrs. Durham is survived by her son, Elbridge G. Durham II and special friend, Shay Jones of Statesville; by a daughter, Alisa G. Anderson of Statesville; by a daughter, Michelle Morgan and her husband Marty of Hickory; by two brothers, John Hall and wife Brenda of Pinhook, VA and J.L. Finney and his wife Nora of Martinsville, VA; by three sisters, Brenda Cheek and husband Darby of Martinsville, Linda Bates and husband Kenny of Ridgeway, VA and Dorothy Welch and her husband Johnny of Lawsonville, NC; Brother-in-law Louie Durham, Jr. and wife Nancy of Saluda, NC. Five grandchildren: James Mayberry, Jr., Alex Cartner, Joshua Anderson, Terra Durham and Kayla Cortes, and three great-grandchildren, Vylette Cartner, Jr., and Arizona Cortes, also survive her. The family will receive friends at Grace Place (316 Sharon School Road, Statesville, NC 28677) on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 2:00 until 2:45 PM. A service celebrating Mrs. Durham’s life will begin at 3:00 PM, following the receiving of friends, with the Revs. Jeff Rowland and Mike Maffucci officiating.
